Hot Buttered Cider

• A rich drink usually reserved for cool evenings, hot buttered cider combines the warmth of rum and spices with the fresh, tartness of apple cider. Cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves, the spices normally associated with cider and rum drinks, combine with the two primary ingredients and butter for a decadent cocktail. The spices and butter are whipped together and placed at the bottom of a cup. After the rum and cider are heated, the cocktail maker pours the mixture on top of the spiced butter.

Rum and Cider Punch

• This sweetened cider and rum drink is usually served hot and garnished with lemon slices, cinnamon and cloves. Lemon juice is combined with apple cider and rum to make the base of the punch, according to Bar None Drink recipes. The sweet element of the drink is provided by the addition of maple syrup and sugar. Before adding the garnishments, the cocktail mixer gently heats the punch.

Cinnamon Bun

• The cinnamon bun drink adds a taste of the sweet pastry to a cider and rum drink through the use of sugar and cinnamon. Though an Irish coffee cup is the traditional container for this drink, any glass with a rim is suitable, says Drinks Mixer. The mixture of cinnamon and sugar is placed on a plate and the cup, after moistening the rim, is gently pressed upside down on the mixture. When the cocktail maker has sufficiently coated the rim with the mix, she adds the spiced rum and hot apple cider.
