How come beer is not considered a food group?

Beer is not considered a food group because it contains little to no vitamins and minerals essential for a healthy diet. It is primarily composed of water, carbohydrates (in the form of alcohol and some remaining sugars), and flavouring agents like hops and grains. While beer may provide some calories and energy, it lacks the important nutrients found in other food groups such as fruits, vegetables, proteins, and whole grains. Therefore, it is not deemed a substantial contributor to a balanced and nutritious diet.
