Things You'll Need
- Oven
- Baking tin
- Aluminum foil
- Malted Barley grain
Instructions
-
Heat the oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit.
-
Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
-
Spread the malted barley grain evenly over the baking sheet.
-
Place the baking sheet in the oven. Roast for 45 minutes
-
Take the baking sheet out of the oven and shake the roasting grain. This will evenly distribute the grain on the baking sheet. Raise the temperature of the oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the baking sheet in the oven and roast for a further 20 minutes.
-
Take the baking sheet out again. Check if the malt is pale buff in color. Shake the baking sheet again. If the color is pure white, continue to roast for another 30 minutes till a pale buff or amber color is achieved. Roast, remove the baking sheet, shake the grain in 15 minute intervals and check until you get the color you require to make beer.
