Is pizza a pie of cake?
Pizza is not considered a pie or a cake.
Here's why:
* Crust: Pizza crust is typically made with yeast-leavened dough, while pie crusts are made with a flaky, buttery pastry dough. Cakes have a sweet, often dense batter.
* Filling: Pizzas are primarily savory, with toppings like cheese, meats, and vegetables. Pies can be sweet or savory, while cakes are always sweet.
* Cooking: Pizzas are usually baked in a hot oven, often at a high temperature to create a crispy crust. Pies are also baked, but at a lower temperature. Cakes are typically baked in a moderate oven.
While pizza does share some similarities with pies (baked in a crust, often with fillings), its distinct ingredients, preparation, and flavor profile set it apart as its own food category.
