Pear preserves how to make?
Ingredients
* 5 pounds ripe pears, peeled, cored, and sliced
* 3 cups sugar
* 1/2 cup lemon juice
* 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
* 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
Instructions
1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, combine the pears, sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and cloves. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
2. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes, or until the pears are soft and the syrup has thickened.
3. Remove from heat and let cool completely.
4. Store the preserves in airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 2 months.
Tips
* To peel the pears, use a vegetable peeler or a paring knife.
* To core the pears, use a melon baller or a paring knife.
* If you don't have a pot or Dutch oven large enough to hold all of the ingredients, you can make the preserves in batches.
* The preserves can be served on toast, crackers, or ice cream.
