How to Make Raisin Pie
Raisin pie is a wonderful old-fashioned pie, not often made or seen in restaurants today. Here's a very basic recipe for raisin pie.
Things You'll Need
- 2 1/2 cups of raisins
- 2 cups of water
- 1 tsp. of cinnamon
- 1 tsp. of nutmeg
- 1 tbsp. of lemon juice
- 2-3 tbsp. of tapioca or cornstarch
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/4 brown sugar
- Butter
Instructions

Prepare the crust using a 9-inch pie crust with a top or use a lattice top. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

In a large saucepan, combine raisins, sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg. Stir to cover.

Stir together water, lemon juice, and tapioca or cornstarch and pour into raisin mixture.

Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat and cook for 15 or 20 minutes, until syrupy.

Pour mixture into crust. Add dabs of butter to the top and cover with top crust. Slice vents into top of pie.

Bake for 10 minutes at 400 degrees, then reduce heat to 350 and cook for 25 minutes or until crust is brown and filling is gently bubbling from the vents.
