Why are fudge cakes french?
Fudge cakes are not French. They are an American creation!
There's no evidence to suggest that fudge cakes originated in France. In fact, they are believed to have originated in the United States in the 19th century.
The name "fudge" itself is believed to have come from an American slang term meaning "to mess up" or "to botch." This suggests that the cake may have been a happy accident, a result of a recipe gone wrong!
So, while the French are known for their delicious desserts, the fudge cake is distinctly American.
