Creme Brulee Recipe
Ingredients:
* 1 cup heavy cream
* 1/2 cup milk
* 1/4 cup sugar
* 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
* 3 egg yolks
* 1 tablespoon brown sugar
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
2. In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream, milk, sugar, and vanilla extract. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring constantly.
3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the egg yolks. Slowly whisk in the hot cream mixture.
4. Strain the custard into a 9-inch pie plate. Place the pie plate in a larger baking dish and filled with enough hot water to reach halfway up the sides.
5. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the custard is set.
6. Remove the pie plate from the water bath and let cool for a few minutes.
7. Sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over the top of the custard. Use a kitchen torch to caramelize the sugar.
8. Let the creme brulee cool completely before serving.
Tips:
* For a richer flavor, use half and half or evaporated milk instead of milk.
* Add a few drops of your favorite liqueur or extract to the custard for a flavor variation.
* Creme brulee can be made ahead of time and refrigerated. Simply caramelize the sugar just before serving.
