What food group does chocolate go in to?
Chocolate doesn't fit neatly into any one food group. Here's why:
* It's high in fat and sugar: This would make it seem like it belongs in the "Fats, Oils, and Sweets" group, but...
* It contains some nutrients: Chocolate, especially dark chocolate, has some antioxidants and minerals like iron and magnesium. This makes it somewhat "healthy", but not enough to put it in the "Fruits, Vegetables, Grains, or Protein Foods" groups.
The best way to categorize chocolate is as a "treat" or "indulgence". It's best enjoyed in moderation as part of a balanced diet.
