Making semi sweet chocolate from unsweetened?
Ingredients:
- 8 oz unsweetened chocolate
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup sugar
Instructions:
1. Finely chop the unsweetened chocolate.
2. In a heatproof bowl set over a saucepan of simmering water, combine the chocolate and heavy cream. Stir constantly until the chocolate is melted and smooth.
3. Remove the bowl from the heat and stir in the sugar. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.
4. Pour the chocolate mixture into a mold or container lined with parchment paper.
5. Refrigerate the chocolate for at least 4 hours, or until firm.
6. Cut the chocolate into pieces and enjoy!
Tips:
- To make milk chocolate, add 1/4 cup of milk powder to the melted chocolate.
- To make dark chocolate, add 1/4 cup of cocoa powder to the melted chocolate.
- For a richer flavor, use a higher quality unsweetened chocolate.
- You can also flavor the chocolate with extracts, such as vanilla, peppermint, or orange.
- If you don't have a mold or container lined with parchment paper, you can simply pour the chocolate onto a sheet pan and refrigerate it until firm. Once it's firm, you can cut it into pieces.
- Semi sweet chocolate made with unsweetened chocolate will have slightly bitter flavor than semi sweet chocolate made with milk or dark chocolate.
