Desserts to Make With Dark Chocolate Brownie Mix
Dark chocolate brownies are a treat by themselves, but with some creativity you can use a boxed mix to create a wide range of desserts. To customize your dessert further, add chocolate chips, caramel, nuts or marshmallow fluff to the brownie batter and bake as directed.
Brownie Sundae
-
A simple dessert you can make with a dark chocolate brownie mix is a brownie sundae. Bake the brownies as directed on the package, then top with ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate syrup and a maraschino cherry.
To serve this dessert at a party, serve each guest a bowl with a brownie and a scoop of ice cream, and invite them to create their own sundae from a variety of toppings.
Brownie Pie
-
Make ice cream or custard pies even richer by substituting dark chocolate brownies for graham cracker or cookie crust. Bake the brownies according to the package directions, then let them cool. Cut the brownies into small chunks. Crush the chunks until they are about the size of breadcrumbs. Spread the brownie crumbs in the bottom of a pie pan and moisten with melted butter. Press the moistened crumbs into the pan and top with the desired flavor of custard or ice cream pie filling.
Brownie Pops
-
Cake pops are a fun party snack, and you can make them even richer and more decadent with dark chocolate brownie mix. Bake the brownie mix as directed and let the finished brownies cool. Use a melon baller to scoop out balls of brownie. Insert a lollipop stick into each ball, then freeze them until they are firm. Dip the balls in dark chocolate or roll in cocoa.
Brownie Trifle
-
A trifle is a traditional English layered dessert. You can enjoy a quick and easy version by substituting dark chocolate brownies for the cake layers. Bake the brownies as directed, then cool and cut them into squares. Layer the brownies in a clear glass bowl, then top with instant pudding, made as the package directs. Add a layer of nuts or mini marshmallows, then top with another layer of brownies. Continue to layer the dessert until you reach the top of the bowl. Finish with a layer of whipped cream and a sprinkle of cocoa powder.
