Instructions:
1. Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. This usually takes about 2-3 minutes with an electric mixer.
2. Add Eggs and Vanilla: Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
3. Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined. Don't overmix!
4. Stir in Chocolate Chips: Fold in the chocolate chips with a spatula.
5. Chill: Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. This helps the dough firm up and prevents the cookies from spreading too much in the oven.
6. Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Scoop dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie. Bake for 9-11 minutes, or until golden brown.
7. Cool: Let cookies cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

* Butter Temperature: Use softened butter, not melted. Cold butter will make the dough tough, and melted butter will result in flat cookies.
