How do you make red velvet cookies?

Ingredients:

- 1 3/4 cups (218 grams) all-purpose flour

- 3/4 cup (150 grams) granulated sugar

- 1/4 cup (20 grams) unsweetened cocoa powder

- 1 1/2 teaspoons (5 grams) baking powder

- 1 1/2 teaspoons (3 grams) baking soda

- 1 teaspoon (2 grams) salt

- 1 cup (227 grams) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature

- 3/4 cup (150 grams) granulated sugar

- 2 large eggs

- 1 1/2 teaspoons (7.5 grams) pure vanilla extract

- 1 tablespoon (15 grams) red food coloring

- 1/4 teaspoon (1 gram) white vinegar

Instructions:

Step 1: Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Step 3: In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the butter and sugar together on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Add the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

Step 4: Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients in three additions, alternating with the buttermilk and beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.

Step 5: Stir in the red food coloring and white vinegar until the dough is evenly colored.

Step 6: Use a cookie scoop to drop the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Step 7: Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are just beginning to turn brown.

Step 8: Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
