How long has peanut butter been around?

Peanut butter has been around for over 100 years. It is believed to have been invented in 1894 or 1895 by John Harvey Kellogg, a doctor at the Battle Creek Sanitarium in Michigan, USA. Kellogg patented a process for making peanut butter in 1895 and began selling it in jars. Peanut butter quickly became popular as a healthy and inexpensive food product.
