How do you make a standing bunny cookie?
Ingredients
- 3-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- 1-1/4 cups granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- Pink, white, black and brown decorating icing
- Pink sanding sugar
Directions
1.) In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder, cream of tartar and salt.
2.) In another large bowl, cream butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Gradually add in the flour mixture alternately with the heavy cream, beating well after each addition.
3.) Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
4.) Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Roll dough out on a floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut out various sized bunny shapes using bunny cookie cutters. Place cookies on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
5.) Bake in preheated oven until edges are golden brown, about 10 to 12 minutes. Remove cookies from oven and let cool on baking sheet for a few minutes. Transfer to a cooling rack to cool completely.
6.) After cookies have cooled completely, decorate them with the decorating icing. Use the pink icing for the ears, nose, and inside of the ears, the white icing for the eyes, the black icing for the whiskers, and the brown icing for the mouth. Then, use the pink sanding sugar to decorate the body and the edges of the ears.
