Bacon Swiss Cheese Cracker Copycat Recipe
Ingredients:
For the crackers:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, cold and cut into small pieces
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives
- 1/2 cup grated Swiss cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped bacon
For the topping:
- 1 egg white
- 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
3. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
4. Add the butter and use your fingers to work it into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
5. Add the water, egg yolk, chives, Swiss cheese, and bacon to the bowl and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
6. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and roll it out to a 1/4-inch thickness.
7. Cut the dough into squares using a sharp knife or cookie cutter.
8. Place the crackers on the prepared baking sheet.
9. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg white and Parmesan cheese.
10. Brush the tops of the crackers with the egg white mixture.
11. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crackers are golden brown.
12. Let the crackers cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before serving.
Tips:
- For crispier crackers, bake for a few minutes longer.
- For softer crackers, bake for a few minutes less.
- You can use any type of cheese you like in this recipe. Cheddar, mozzarella, and pepper Jack are all good options.
- Feel free to exclude bacon if you prefer cheese crackers without meat.
