When was the popsicle invented?

The modern version of the popsicle was invented in 1905 by an 11-year-old boy from San Francisco named Frank Epperson. Frank’s story is that one evening, he mixed some powdered soda and water in a cup, stirred it with a wooden stick and then he left the cup outside in the freezing cold overnight. The next morning he found that the mixture had frozen to the stick, and he called his frozen treat “Epsicle”. Over time the name evolved into "Popsicle".
