How to Melt M&M Candies
M&Ms are small chocolate pieces covered in a candy shell. Melt the M&Ms to make a syrup or topping or to mix into a dough. The melted chocolate will have candy bits in it. However, if you melt it incorrectly, the chocolate can burn. The most effective way to melt chocolate is with a double boiler. A double boiler is made of two pots. The bottom pot has water in it. The other pot sits on top of the bottom pot, holding the chocolate. The heat from the first boiler melts the chocolate slowly, preventing burning.
Things You'll Need
- Double boiler
- Water
- Plain M&Ms
- Spoon
Instructions
-
Fill the bottom part of the double boiler with water. Set on the stove, and turn the burner to medium.
-
Pour the M&Ms into the other pot. Put it on top of the first pot.
-
Stir the M&Ms constantly to prevent sticking and burning as they melt. As the M&Ms get softer, use the spoon to crunch the shells.
-
Remove the M&Ms from the heat once you have melted them. Pour the melted chocolate over ice cream, in a dough or in a container to refrigerate.
