Can i use yogurt to replace buttermilk and white vinegar?
Yogurt can be used to replace buttermilk in many recipes. Buttermilk is often used in baking to add moisture, richness, and tanginess. Yogurt can provide similar qualities, and it also contains probiotics, which are beneficial for gut health. To substitute yogurt for buttermilk, simply use an equal amount of plain, unsweetened yogurt. If the recipe calls for buttermilk to be mixed with baking soda, you will also need to add baking powder to the recipe. This is because yogurt is not acidic enough to react with baking soda on its own. For every 1 cup of yogurt, add 1 teaspoon of baking powder.
White vinegar is sometimes used in baking as an acidic ingredient. It can be used to activate baking soda, or it can be used to add a tangy flavor to baked goods. Yogurt can also be used to provide acidity in baking, but it will not produce the same flavor as vinegar. If you are using yogurt to replace white vinegar in a recipe, you may want to add a small amount of lemon juice or apple cider vinegar to the recipe to provide the desired tanginess.
