Why are skittles invented?

Skittles were not invented for any specific purpose.

They were created in 1974 by a British company called Mars. The company wanted to create a new type of candy that was both sweet and tangy, and that could be enjoyed by people of all ages. They experimented with different flavors and textures until they came up with the perfect combination.

Skittles were originally called "Opal Fruits" in the UK, and were only sold in the UK and Europe. In 1982, they were introduced to the United States under the name "Skittles." The name was changed to avoid confusion with another candy that was already being sold in the US called "Opal Mints."

Skittles have been a popular candy ever since they were first introduced. They are now sold in over 100 countries around the world.
