Can you make rock candy with Gatorade?

Ingredients

- Gatorade powder or liquid (any flavor but preferably not citrus)

- Water

- Sugar

Equipment

- Saucepan

- Spoon

- Measuring cup

- Candy thermometer

- Glass jar or container

- Skewers or toothpicks

- Parchment paper

Instructions

1. Prepare the ingredients. If you are using Gatorade powder, mix it with water according to the package instructions. If you are using Gatorade liquid, simply pour it into a saucepan.

2. Add sugar. Add sugar to the Gatorade mixture in a ratio of 2:1 (2 cups of sugar to 1 cup of Gatorade).

3. Dissolve the sugar. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly to dissolve the sugar.

4. Cook the mixture. Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for 5 minutes, or until it has thickened slightly and reached a temperature of 300 degrees Fahrenheit (150 degrees Celsius).

5. Remove the mixture from the heat. Let the mixture cool for a few minutes.

6. Pour the mixture into a glass jar or container. Let the mixture cool completely at room temperature.

7. Add the skewers or toothpicks. Once the mixture has cooled, add the skewers or toothpicks to the jar.

8. Cover the jar with parchment paper. Cover the jar with parchment paper and secure it with a rubber band.

9. Let the candy dry for at least 48 hours. Let the candy dry in a cool, dry place for at least 48 hours, or until the crystals are hard.

10. Enjoy your rock candy!

Tips

- To make smaller crystals, let the mixture cool for longer before adding the skewers or toothpicks.

- To make larger crystals, let the mixture cool for less time before adding the skewers or toothpicks.

- If you want to add flavor to your rock candy, you can add a few drops of food coloring or extract to the mixture.

- Rock candy can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 6 months.
