How to Use Andes Mints As Candy Melts
Wilton makes Candy Melts, also known as confectionery coating. These combine flavorings, vegetable oil, sugar and milk solids to create an easy-to-melt confection used for coating or dipping candy. When made with cocoa, Candy Melts taste like melted chocolate, but they do not seize or burn as easily as chocolate. Andes Mints, made by Tootsie, sandwich a layer of mint cream between two layers of chocolate. These melt as most chocolate products, so unlike Candy Melts, you must use caution. For convenience, Tootsie also makes Andes creme de Menthe baking chips, which saves you the step of unwrapping and chopping small bars of whole Andes Mints. Feel free to substitute these for any of the applications as Candy Melts. Once melted, your Andes Mints provide a delicious chocolate mint coating for anything.
