How to Make a Christmas Candy Treat With Ritz Crackers and White Chocolate
Christmas candy treats made with Ritz crackers and white chocolate are standard holiday fare in many households. They offer a complex texture, combining crunchy crackers with creamy peanut butter and velvety-smooth chocolate for a satisfying mouth-feel, and their subtle fusion of salty and sweet flavors will satisfy even the most discerning palate. Serve the Christmas treats at a holiday gathering, leave them out with a glass of milk for Santa or put them in small plastic bags tied with holiday ribbon for last-minute holiday gifts.
Things You'll Need
- 16 oz. white dipping chocolate or vanilla almond bark
- 80 Ritz crackers
- Plastic storage or sandwich bag
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
Instructions
-
Spread 40 Ritz crackers out a piece of waxed paper. If you don't have room for all the crackers, work in smaller batches.
-
Spoon the peanut butter into a plastic storage bag or sandwich bag and cut a piece off the corner to make a disposable piping bag.
-
Squeeze about 2 tsp. of peanut butter onto the center of each Ritz cracker -- the peanut butter blob on each cracker should be about the size of a Hershey's Kiss.
-
Gently press a second Ritz cracker onto the peanut butter. Use enough pressure to spread the peanut butter between the two crackers, but don't push so hard that you break the top cracker or spread the peanut butter past the edges of the Ritz crackers.
-
Put the sandwiched crackers in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
-
Melt the white dipping chocolate or vanilla almond bark in a double boiler over gently simmering water, or follow the instructions on the packaging to melt it in the microwave.
-
Balance one of the treats on a fork and dip it into the melted white chocolate. Lift the treat out of the chocolate and allow the excess chocolate to drip off. Carefully place the chocolate-coated treat on a piece of waxed paper.
-
Before the chocolate coating dries, sprinkle on red and green sparkling sugar or silver and gold sprinkles.
-
Repeat the dipping and decorating process with the rest of the Ritz cracker sandwiches, one at a time. Allow the chocolate to harden for approximately an hour before serving, or keep the treats in an airtight container for up to seven days.
