What is the recipe to a cherry pound cake?
Cherry Pound Cake
Ingredients:
* 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature
* 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
* 3 large eggs
* 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
* 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
* 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1 cup sour cream
* 1 cup fresh cherries, pitted and halved
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients alternately with the sour cream, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Stir in the cherries.
4. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
5. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Tips:
* To make a glaze for the cake, combine 1 cup of powdered sugar with 2-3 tablespoons of milk. Stir until smooth and drizzle over the cooled cake.
* For a richer cake, use 1 1/2 cups of butter instead of 1 cup.
* If you don't have fresh cherries, you can use frozen cherries that have been thawed and drained.
* This cake is also delicious with other fruits, such as blueberries, raspberries, or strawberries.
