Decorating the Field

1. Mix green food dye into ¾ of the white frosting. Stir it thoroughly so the green food dye is completely blended in the frosting

2. Spread the green frosting over the top of the cake if you are leaving it in the pan or all over the top and sides of the cake if you are taking the cake out of the pan and putting it on a platter.

3. Fill the cake decorating tube or bag with white frosting then beginning in the middle of the cake, draw the 50 yard line from side to side with the plain circular tip. Repeat this all long the cake for each yardage line on a football field. It might be a good idea to have a diagram of a football field to follow to make the grid easier to draw on the cake.

4. With the same white frosting in the cake decorating tube, carefully write the corresponding number next to each yardage line all the way down the field on top of the cake.

5. Take two colored pipe cleaners and twist the two pieces around and around each other so they look like the stripes on a candy cane.

Setting up the Goal

1. Continue twisting with two more sets of pipe cleaners in the same colors.

2. Join the three double strands of pipe cleaners together and form a u-shaped goal post . Then place it on one end of the cake.

3. Repeat the same twist with pipe cleaners in the second set of colors. Place this goal post on the opposite end of the cake.
