How does vegetable oil dissolve gum?

Vegetable oil does not dissolve gum. In fact, it can make gum stickier and more difficult to remove. If you get gum stuck to your clothes or hair, try to remove it with a blunt object, such as a spoon or your fingernail. If the gum is still stuck, you can use a solvent such as rubbing alcohol or WD-40 to dissolve it.
