How can you soften pecans?
Method 1: Microwave
1. Place pecans in a microwave-safe bowl.
2. Add a small amount of water.
3. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap.
4. Microwave on high for 10-15 seconds.
5. Check the pecans. They should be softened but not mushy. If they are not soft enough, microwave for an additional 5-10 seconds.
6. Stir the pecans. This will help to prevent them from sticking together.
7. Set aside the pecans to cool.
Method 2: Stovetop
1. Place pecans in a saucepan.
2. Cover pecans with water.
3. Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat.
4. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 5-7 minutes.
5. Drain the pecans and set aside to cool.
Tips:
* Be careful not to over-microwave the pecans or they will become tough.
* Pecans can also be softened by placing them in a warm oven for a few minutes.
* If you do not have a microwave or stovetop, you can also soften pecans by placing them in a warm spot in your home, such as on the dashboard of your car.
* Softened pecans can be used in a variety of recipes, such as cookies, cakes, and breads.
