How do you use knox gelatin for hair?
To use Knox gelatin for hair, you can follow these steps:
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon of Knox gelatin powder
- 1 cup of water
- Optional: Essential oils or fragrance oils (a few drops)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the gelatin mixture: In a heatproof bowl, whisk together the Knox gelatin powder and 1/4 cup of the water until it forms a smooth paste. Then, add the remaining 3/4 cup of water and stir until the gelatin is completely dissolved.
2. Microwave or heat the mixture: Place the bowl in the microwave and heat on high for 20-30 seconds, or until the gelatin is completely dissolved. Ensure that there are no lumps. If you don't have a microwave, you can heat the mixture in a saucepan on the stovetop over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the gelatin dissolves.
3. Add essential oils (optional): If desired, you can add a few drops of your preferred essential oils or fragrance oils to the gelatin mixture for added fragrance. Some good choices for hair include rosemary, lavender, or peppermint.
4. Let it cool: Allow the gelatin mixture to cool until it reaches room temperature. Stir occasionally to prevent it from becoming too thick and gelatinous.
5. Apply to hair: Once the gelatin mixture has cooled, section your hair into small parts. Apply the gelatin mixture evenly to your hair, starting from the roots and working towards the ends. Make sure to cover all strands.
6. Leave it on: Put on a shower cap or wrap your head in a plastic wrap to prevent the gelatin from dripping. Leave it on for at least 30 minutes to an hour. The longer you leave it, the more conditioning benefits you'll get.
7. Rinse thoroughly: After the desired time, thoroughly rinse your hair with lukewarm water until all the gelatin is removed. Do not use hot water, as it can cause the gelatin to harden and become difficult to remove.
8. Style as usual: Once your hair is clean from the gelatin mixture, you can style it as you normally do.
Remember to do a patch test on your skin before applying the gelatin mixture to your entire head to check for any allergic reactions. Knox gelatin is generally safe to use, but it's always better to be cautious. Additionally, if you have color-treated hair, it's best to consult a hairstylist before applying gelatin as it may alter the color or texture of the hair.
