Is nutmeg spice made from nuts?

Nutmeg is not made from nuts, but rather from the seeds of a tropical evergreen tree called Myristica fragrans. These seeds are removed from the fruit of the tree and then dried, after which they are ground into a powder to create the nutmeg spice.
