How Long Can You Keep Opened Tomato Juice Before It Spoils?
Tomato juice is a refreshing beverage in its own right, and a valuable ingredient in many cocktails and sauces. Depending how much you need on a given day, it's all too easy to end up with an opened bottle or can taking up space in your refrigerator. If you don't often use tomato juice, you'll need to know how long you can keep it refrigerated before it's no longer any good.
Refrigerator Life
-
If your tomato juice came in a resealable bottle, simply seal it again and put it in the fridge. If the juice is in a can, it's better to pour it into a well-washed container that can be sealed to minimize its exposure to oxygen as well as airborne bacteria and mold spores. Typically, tomato juice is acidic enough to remain safe for five to seven days in your refrigerator, if it has been well-chilled and never gotten to room temperature. If the juice shows signs of fermentation or mold, discard it immediately. Some molds produce toxins that can be dangerous to people.
