How to Use Tamarind Paste (5 Steps)
Tamarind paste, derived from the pulp of the fruit, is an ingredient often heard of by Western cooks, but rarely used. However, the sweet and sour fruit is created into a paste adored by other cultures throughout the world. From pad Thai to a variety of curries, the paste adds a depth of flavor to a variety of recipes.
Things You'll Need
- 1/4 cup hot water
- 1 tbsp. concentrate tamarind paste
- Small bowl
- Spoon
- Fine sieve
- Bowl
Instructions

Pour hot water in to a small bowl. Place a small amount of concentrate in it.

Allow the paste to soften in the water for 5 minutes. Mix together until completely combined.

Pour the paste into a sieve above the bowl. Press it slightly to strain liquid without the pulp.

Add the tamarind to your recipe, as called for.

Store the tamarind paste in the fridge for up to a week.
