Where are green peppers from?

Bell peppers (also known as sweet peppers) are members of the nightshade family, which also includes tomatoes, potatoes, and eggplants. They originated in Central and South America and have been cultivated for centuries. Green bell peppers are simply unripe bell peppers that are harvested before they have a chance to turn red, orange, or yellow.
