How can you tell if are ready to cook something in oil?
To tell if the oil is ready for cooking, you can look for these signs:
- Shimmering: The surface of the oil will start to shimmer or ripple as it heats up.
- Smoke point: The oil will start to smoke when it reaches its smoke point, which is the temperature at which the oil starts to break down and release visible smoke.
- Dropping a food item: Drop a small piece of food, such as a breadcrumb, into the oil. If it sizzles and floats to the surface, the oil is ready for cooking.
