Presto Electric Griddle Instructions

Your kids are asking for pancakes, and your husband wants French toast. Rather than use several pots and pans to prepare a home-cooked breakfast, consider using an electric griddle. Setup, use and cleanup are simple, and anyone in the family can safely use the Presto Electric Griddle for frying potatoes, eggs or anything else you can think of.

Assembly

  • The griddle needs to be assembled before it can be used. Attach the handles by placing the skillet upside down on a stable, flat surface, and use a screwdriver to fasten two screws per handle. Do not overtighten the screws or the screws may strip or the handles may crack. Instructions with diagrams are included with the griddle.

Use

  • Before the first use, wash the griddle in the dishwasher or in the sink using warm soapy water. Rinse and dry the griddle. Wash only the griddle; do not get the heat control module wet. Season the cooking surface by gently rubbing with cooking oil, then use a paper towel to remove excess oil.

Make sure the griddle sits on a level surface when used. Insert the heat control module and plug the other end into the wall outlet. Use the dial on the module to adjust the temperature to your desired range. Presto recommends removing the cover during preheating. When the griddle reaches the preset temperature, the pilot light goes out. Cook your food according to the appropriate temperature timetable for your food. While cooking, you may notice the pilot light turning on and off. This indicates that the griddle is maintaining the appropriate temperature.

When cooking is finished, adjust the dial on the heat control module to "OFF" and unplug the other end of the power cord from the wall. Allow time for the griddle to cool.

Cleaning and General Care

  • The Presto Electric Griddle can be washed in a dishwasher or in warm, soapy water. Clean the cooking surface with a nonmetal cleaning pad using firm pressure. The griddle can be soaked for up to 2 hours to loosen food residue.

Avoid using metal cooking utensils on the griddle. Use plastic, wooden or silicone cooking utensils if possible to reduce the risk of scratching the nonstick surface. Never use a knife on the cooking surface to cut foods.

Over time, the nonstick surface may discolor immediately above the heating element. Treat the area with a commercial destainer designed for cooking surfaces. Wash and rinse the skillet after treating. Consider seasoning the cooking surface again with cooking oil after cleaning with commercial cleaners.
