What Is Circulon Made of?
Founded in 1985, Circulon pioneered the use of hard-anodized aluminum in cookware. In 2010, Circulon's 25th anniversary year, the company offers several lines of dishwasher-safe cookware and bakeware in carbon steel and hard-anodized aluminum.
Carbon Steel
-
Carbon steel, also known as milled or cold-rolled steel, has a matte, charcoal gray appearance. Circulon manufactures an array of bakeware in this material for natural, even heat distribution, making it ideal for tasks such as browning chicken or baking cookies. Most carbon steel cookware from Circulon also features a nonstick coating.
Carbon steel distributes heat evenly.
Hard-Anodized Aluminum
-
An electro-chemical process coats aluminum with a scratch-resistant surface to create hard-anodized aluminum. Circulon touts the coated metal as twice as strong as stainless steel. You can find skillets, sauce pots and frying pans in Circulon's hard-anodized collections. Most pans feature a dark matte gray finish; however, Circulon also offers a light gray aluminum series called Platinum Elite.
Stainless Steel
-
A stainless steel lid and riveted stainless steel handles accent many Circulon covered pots and casserole dishes. As of 2010, Circulon does not carry a complete stainless steel cookware collection.
