How to Crush Garlic
Garlic adds an interesting touch and gives off a delicious aroma when used properly and in an appropriate quantity. Below are some of the different methods by which you can easily crush garlic to use in your favorite recipes.
Instructions
-
Take a piece of garlic and strip off its covering. Place it on a chopping block with the hollow side facing downwards. Use a wooden spoon to press down and apply pressure to crush the garlic.
-
Follow another method--remove the shell and put the garlic on a wooden surface. Take an unopened food can and use its base to whack the garlic until it is crushed.
-
Purchase a garlic press. Put peeled garlic in the cavity of the press. Bring the two ends close and squeeze with your hand to apply pressure to the garlic. This results in a finely crushed product.
-
Wrap the garlic in a durable paper towel. Take a wide chef's knife and press down on the garlic by placing it over the paper towel. Take out the garlic and remove the shell.
-
Use a mortar and pestle. Remove the skin from the garlic. Place the garlic in the mortar (bowl) and use the pestle to finely crush the pieces by striking it down in a rhythmic fashion. Use this method to crush up to five pieces of garlic at a time.
