How to Make Gray Food Coloring
While your local supermarket only sells basic food coloring sets, you can easily make any color you need by mixing the colors together. Gray food coloring is impossible to find at the grocery store, but is made easily at home. Mix it with frosting and create your own gray animal cakes, like wolves, mice or even seals and whales.
Things You'll Need
- Black food coloring, liquid
- Ivory food coloring, paste
- Small bowl
- Whisk
Instructions
-
Place 1 tbsp. of ivory food coloring paste into a small bowl.
-
Add one drop of liquid black food coloring to the ivory paste.
-
Whisk the two colors together until combined.
-
Add additional black food coloring, one drop at a time, and whisk again to make a darker gray color.
-
Lighten the gray by adding more ivory paste. Continue to whisk the colors together until you are satisfied with the color.
