How to Marinate Pork Steaks

Marinades are used for preparing many different types of meat before cooking them. Marinades add flavor to meat and they also help to tenderize meats for a juicy and less chewy result. Pork is a temperamental meat that can easily be overcooked and become dry or chewy. You can marinate pork steaks with store-bought or homemade marinades for the best result in flavor, moisture and texture.

Things You'll Need

  • 1 (8 1/4 ounce) can sliced pineapple
  • Medium saucepan
  • 1 onion
  • 3 tbsp. light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp. ground ginger
  • Chef's knife

Suggested Marinade

  1. Pour the juice from a can of sliced pineapple into a medium saucepan.

  2. Chop an onion and put it in the saucepan.

  3. Add 3 tbsp. of light corn syrup, 1/2 cup of soy sauce, 1/4 cup of vegetable oil and 1 tsp. of ground ginger to the saucepan. Stir everything together with a spoon.

  4. Heat the contents of the saucepan over medium heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. The marinade is ready for pouring over the pork steaks.

Marinating the Pork Steaks

  1. Trim your pork steaks with a sharp chef's knife to remove all of the fatty edges.

  2. Place the pork steaks in a casserole dish in a single layer and pour the marinade over them.

  3. Cover the casserole dish with plastic wrap. Place it in the refrigerator to soak into the pork steaks for at least 8 hours, turning the steaks every hour or two until you are ready to cook them.
