How to Cook Pork Tenderloin in a Six Quart Roaster

Pork tenderloin is the most tender cut on the pig. Taken from beside the spine, there is little fat on the loin -- it is equal to a chicken breast in saturated fat and has more minerals and nutrients. Common and easy to find in a supermarket, the tenderloin can make a great centerpiece for any meal. A standard oven roaster is six quarts and an average pork tenderloin is about two quarts, making the roaster a great medium for cooking this cut. By having enough room to add vegetables and other ingredients, a flavorful meal can be produced.

Things You'll Need

  • 3 pound pork tenderloin
  • Paper towels
  • 6 quart roaster, with lid
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 large onions, peeled and quartered
  • 5 cloves garlic, peeled
  • Spices
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Meat thermometer

Instructions

  1. Rinse the pork tenderloin and pat it dry with paper towels.

  2. Place the pork in the roaster and drizzle on the olive oil.

  3. Sprinkle on your preferred spices and place the onion and garlic beside the pork. Add salt and pepper to taste.

  4. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.

  5. Cover the roaster with the lid and insert it into the oven.

  6. Cook the tenderloin for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Insert the thermometer into the middle of the pork -- it should read 155 degrees Fahrenheit when done. If it is not done cooking, continue cooking and check every 10 minutes to see whether the pork has reached this temperature.

  7. Remove the pork from the oven and let it rest 20 minutes before serving.
