How to Make Sweet Corn in a Roaster (6 Steps)
A chef can't to go wrong with corn on the cob, as long as it is cooked right. Sweet corn can be steamed or boiled in a roaster for a buttery side dish. If you are lucky enough to have an electric roaster, this classic vegetable can be cooked while the rest of dinner goes in the oven. If you choose to boil the corn in a roasting pan, make it extra special by using butter and cream for the corn bath.
Things You'll Need
- 12 ears of sweet corn, shucked
- Roasting pan, electric or regular
- 3 cups water
- 1/2 lb butter
- 1 pt half and half
Steam Roasted Corn
-
Preheat electric roaster or oven to 400 degrees F. Put 3 cups of water in bottom of pan and line corn on the roasting rack above.
-
Cover roasting pan. Steam corn for 25 minutes or until tender.
-
Reduce temperature to 200 degrees F to keep corn hot while other dishes are prepared. Serve with butter on the side.
Butter Roasted Corn
-
Preheat oven or electric roaster to 325 degrees. Remove rack from roasting pan and put butter and half and half directly in pan. Add corn to the butter and cream mixture, covering the ears entirely. Cover the roasting pan, discarding the rack.
-
Boil corn for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Check corn near the end of the cooking process and adjust time as you see fit.
-
Remove pan from oven and cool in sink filled with cold water. Take out corn and serve.
