How to Bake Mullet
Mullet is a favorite fish in the southeastern region of the United States. Striped mullet is fished from North Carolina on the Atlantic coast to Texas on the Gulf Coast. Simple to prepare, baked mullet is firm, with white flesh. It's also juicy, and pan juices can be warmed with butter to make a sauce to top the fish.
Things You'll Need
- 2 pounds mullet fillets
- Aluminum foil
- Olive oil
- 2 lemons, sliced
- Salt and pepper
Instructions
-
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
-
Grease a piece of aluminum foil with olive oil.
-
Arrange half of the lemon slices on the foil so that the fillets will fit on top of them. Set the mullet on the lemon slices, and put the rest of the slices on top of the fish.
-
Add salt and pepper to taste.
-
Bring the sides of the foil up and over the fish, crimping the edges together. Repeat with the ends, to make a foil package.
-
Bake the mullet for 45 minutes, or until it flakes with a fork.
