How can you cook a popcorn using liquid nitrogen?
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of popcorn kernels
- 2 tablespoons of liquid nitrogen
Instructions:
1. Place the popcorn kernels in a large heat-proof bowl.
2. Pour the liquid nitrogen over the popcorn kernels.
3. Quickly cover the bowl with a lid or plastic wrap to trap the nitrogen gas.
Wait 30 seconds to 2 minutes or until the liquid nitrogen has completely evaporated (liquid nitrogen evaporates at -321° Fahrenheit), leaving only the popcorn kernels behind.
4. Remove the lid or plastic wrap from the bowl and stir the popcorn kernels to ensure that they are evenly coated with the liquid nitrogen.
5. Place the bowl of popcorn kernels in the microwave and heat on high for 2-3 minutes, or until the popcorn starts to pop.
6. Remove the bowl of popcorn from the microwave and pour the popcorn into a serving bowl.
7. Enjoy your popcorn!
Safety Precautions:
- Liquid nitrogen is extremely cold and can cause frostbite. Be sure to wear gloves when handling it.
- Liquid nitrogen gas can displace oxygen, causing asphyxiation. Be sure to use liquid nitrogen in a well-ventilated area.
- Do not ingest liquid nitrogen. It can cause serious injury if swallowed.
