How do you cook cabonara?
Carbonara is a classic Italian pasta dish made with eggs, cheese, guanciale (or pancetta), and pasta. Here's a recipe for how to cook carbonara:
Ingredients:
- 1 pound spaghetti
- 4 ounces guanciale (or pancetta), cut into small pieces
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Pecorino Romano cheese
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions:
1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions. Reserve 1 cup of the pasta cooking water before draining the pasta.
2. While the pasta is cooking, heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the guanciale. Cook until the guanciale is crispy, about 5-7 minutes.
3. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, Parmesan cheese, Pecorino Romano cheese, salt, and pepper.
4. Once the pasta is cooked, drain it and add it to the skillet with the guanciale. Toss to combine.
5. Remove the skillet from the heat and add the egg mixture. Stir vigorously until the eggs are cooked and the sauce has thickened, about 1-2 minutes.
6. Add the reserved pasta cooking water and stir to combine.
7. Serve the carbonara immediately, garnished with additional grated Parmesan cheese and Pecorino Romano cheese.
