How do you light gas oven pilot?

To light a gas oven pilot, follow these steps:

Locate the pilot light assembly. The pilot light is typically located inside the oven near the burner. Identify it as a small metal tube with a flame coming out of it.

Turn off the gas supply. Before lighting the pilot light, make sure that the gas supply to the oven is turned off. Locate the gas valve, which is usually near the oven's base, and turn it clockwise until it is fully closed.

Wait for the oven to cool down. If the oven has been recently in use, allow it to cool down for a few minutes to avoid igniting any residual gas.

Open the oven door. This will help to dissipate any gas that may have accumulated inside the oven.

Locate the pilot light ignition button. The ignition button is usually near the pilot light assembly. It may be labeled as "Pilot" or "Igniter."

Press and hold the pilot light ignition button. Press and hold the ignition button for 30-60 seconds or until the pilot light ignites. Keep the button depressed even after the pilot light ignites to ensure a steady flame.

Release the pilot light ignition button. Once the pilot light is lit, release the ignition button. The pilot light should remain lit without the need to hold the button.

Adjust the pilot light flame. If the pilot light flame is too large or too small, adjust it by turning the pilot light adjustment screw. This screw is usually located near the pilot light assembly.

Turn on the gas supply. Once the pilot light is lit and adjusted, turn the gas valve counterclockwise to turn the gas supply back on.

Close the oven door. Close the oven door and check that the pilot light remains lit.

If the pilot light does not ignite or stays lit, there may be an issue with the thermocouple, the gas supply, or the ignition system. In such cases, it is best to consult a qualified technician for further assistance.
