How to Add Baking Powder to Plain Flour
Buttermilk biscuits, fluffy pancakes and tasty quick breads all contain an ingredient that makes them simple and fast to make: self-rising flour. Keeping a supply of this baking staple on hand will eliminate a step in your baking process, which can come in handy on busy baking days. Commercial self-rising flour is often made with low-protein cake flour, which results in a denser batter or dough. For fluffier quick breads and biscuits, make your own version and keep it handy in jars or zip-top bags.
