How to Make Granola Clusters Vs. Pieces (11 Steps)
Homemade granola is traditionally composed of a lot of small pieces and not bite-size clusters. Making your own homemade granola that is delicious and has that perfect crunch is simple. This recipe is great for breakfast cereals, yogurt toppings, and snacks.
Things You'll Need
- Large Bowl
- Microwave-save bowl
- Mixing spoon
- Baking sheet
- Baking parchment paper
- Small bowl or ramekin
- Airtight storage container
- Whisk
- Measuring cups
- Teaspoon
- 2 1/2 cups old fashioned oats
- 2/3 cup flour
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup of your favorite nuts, chopped
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
- 1/4 cup raisins
- 1/4 cup of dried cherries, or your favorite dried fruit
- 1 egg white
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.

In a large bowl, stir together the oats, flour, brown sugar, salt and nuts.

In a microwave-safe bowl, microwave the butter and maple syrup together on high until the butter is melted.

Stir the butter mixture into the dry ingredients.

Whisk an egg white in a small bowl until frothy and foamy.

Stir the egg white into the granola mixture.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spread the granola mixture onto it in an even layer.

Bake the granola, checking often, until it is golden brown in color (about 15 minutes).

Take the granola out of the oven and allow it to cool completely. If possible, allow it to sit overnight.

Break the granola up into clumpy clusters or chunks and add your choice of dried fruits.

Store the granola in an airtight container and enjoy.
