Proper Way to Cut Baked Brownies
A warm brownie and a cold glass of milk is a combination that is hard to beat. Brownies are popular desserts that come in a variety of forms: Plain, with nuts, iced and laced with caramel. If you enjoy baking brownies, you should know how to cut them properly. If you don't cut brownies the right way, you can end up with a crumbly mess.
Things You'll Need
- Plastic knife
- Paper towel
- Spatula
Instructions
-
Cool your brownies. You can do this at room temperature for about 30 minutes. Or, you can speed up the process by placing the hot pan in the freezer for 5-10 minutes.
-
Hold a plastic, serrated knife under hot running water for about 10 seconds.
-
Wipe the knife dry with a paper towel.
-
Insert the knife at one end of the pan and move in an up-and-down motion as you move the knife through the pan in a straight line.
-
Place the knife back under the hot water and dry it again before performing the next cut.
-
Cut another straight line down the pan of brownies. Continue making cuts in the same direciton until you have divided the brownies into columns.
-
Use the same technique to heat the plastic knife and perform horizontal cuts through the pan of brownies.
-
Remove the brownies from the pan with a small spatula.
