What is black gram flour?
Black gram flour, also known as urad flour or besan, is a common ingredient in Indian and Pakistani cuisine. It is ade from ground black gram beans (_Vigna mungo_) and has a slightly nutty, earthy flavour. Black gram flour is often used as a thickener in soups and stews, as a base for batters, and as a key ingredient in various traditional sweets and savoury dishes, including pakoras, vadas, and puran poli. It is also commonly used in making papadums and savoury pancakes called dosa. Being a rich source of protein, dietary fibre, and essential vitamins and minerals, it holds significant nutritional value in various diets.
