How do you make the perfect half boiled egg?
To make the perfect soft-boiled egg, follow these steps:
Ingredients
- Eggs
- Water
Instructions
Preparation:
- Use room-temperature eggs. Cold eggs are harder to peel.
Boiling:
1. Place a pot filled with water over medium heat.
2. Bring the water to a full rolling boil.
3. Once the water is boiling, gently lower the eggs into the water, using a spoon to avoid cracking them.
Timing:
- For a "slightly soft yolk," boil for 5 minutes.
- For a "tender and creamy yolk," boil for 6 minutes.
- For a "soft set yolk with a semi-solid center," boil for 7 minutes.
Cooling and Peeling:
4. After boiling, immediately remove the eggs from the pot and transfer them to a bowl filled with ice water.
5. Gently stir the ice water to cool the eggs evenly.
6. Let the eggs cool for at least 5 minutes or up to 10 minutes.
7. Once cool, peel the eggs under running water to easily remove the shells.
8. Enjoy your soft-boiled eggs immediately, sprinkled with salt and pepper or accompanied by toast or your favorite breakfast dishes!
