Quickest Way to Boil an Egg (5 Steps)
There are several ways to boil eggs but the quickest is using a saucepan with just enough water to cover the eggs thoroughly. No matter what, boiling eggs will take a while. You have to let eggs sit in hot water to boil them because if you leave the eggs in boiling water with the stove on the eggs will taste a little like sulfur. You can get eggs to boil a little bit faster by salting the water. This will help the water boil faster which cuts down on the overall cooking time.
Things You'll Need
- Salt
- Saucepan
- Egg
Instructions
-
Place the egg in a saucepan and add water so it fully covers the egg.
-
Add about ½ a tsp. of salt to the water. The salt will bring the water to a boil faster.
-
Boil the water on medium-high heat. Once the water is boiling, turn off the heat.
-
Leave the eggs in the hot water for at least 10 minutes. If you want a harder egg yolk you can leave the egg in the water for up to 15 minutes.
-
Remove the egg from the water and enjoy. If you don't want to eat the egg right away, store it an airtight container and keep it chilled.
